Presentations - using slideshare

If you have a powerpoint presentation that you want to put on a wiki, you could use Slideshare

http://www.slideshare.net/

To be able to have presentations that work by clicking to go to the next slide, and not use up any space on the wiki, it is a good idea to save the presentation somewhere else like Slideshare and then link it to the wiki:

  1. Create your powerpoint presentation on your computer.
  2. Open a slideshare account
  3. After you create your powerpoint, you upload it to Slideshare.
  4. On slideshare, go to the presentation you want to link.
  5. Find the "embed" code for your presentation and copy all the code.
  6. Then you can link to it on your wiki.
  7. To do this, start to edit the page, then click on the "insert html" icon > paste the code you copied (note: you will not see the presentation in edit mode, only when you have saved the page)
  8. Make sure you check the "enable java" box
  9. Save your page.
  10. You should then see your slideshow like this:

by the way, if you want to see all the slide presentations from the "study skills" series used for MEd TESOL in 2006-07, go to this page
